Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Citavon ("we", "us"), the team that runs the Citavon game at citavon.com and its other servers. By creating an account, playing, or buying anything in the game, you agree to them and to our Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Citavon.

1. Who may play

• You must be at least 13 years old to play.
• If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may play only with the permission of a parent or guardian, and you must have their permission before buying anything. The parent or guardian accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your purchases.
• You may not play if we have banned you before, or if the law where you live does not allow you to.

2. Your account

• Your account is your email address and password. One account can hold many lords.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for everything done through your account, including by anyone you give access to one of your lords (Share lords).
• Give us a real email address that you control: we send your sign-up and reset codes and your receipts there.
• Lord names, account names, alliance names and letters must not be offensive, hateful or pretend to be us. We may change or remove a name or a message that breaks this.

3. Coins and items

• Coins, items, resources, troops, heroes, cities and everything else in the game are part of the game. When you get them, by playing or by buying them, you get a personal, limited right to use them in Citavon. You do not own them, they have no value in money, and they cannot be cashed out, refunded for money except as our Refund Policy says, or moved to another game.
• Selling or buying lords, accounts, coins or items for real money or anything outside the game is not allowed.
• Citavon is still in open testing. We may change the rules, balance, prices and features of the game, including what an item does, and how much of anything a lord can hold. We will try to be fair to players who have paid when we do.

4. Buying with real money

• Packs are priced in US dollars and paid through PayPal, with a PayPal account or a card, or by card through Payfast, which charges the price in South African rand at the rate shown in the Buy window (your bank turns it into your own money). We never see your card details. Any fees or taxes your bank or country adds are yours.
• The price you pay is the one shown in the Buy window when you go to payment. The pack is delivered to the lord you bought it for as soon as PayPal or Payfast tells us the payment is complete, usually within seconds. You get a receipt in the game's mail and, if the lord is on an account with an email address, by email.
• When you buy, you ask us to deliver the pack at once. Once it is delivered, you can no longer cancel the purchase, except as our Refund Policy says or the law requires.
• If a payment is reversed, charged back or refunded, we may take the pack's coins and items back from the lord, and we may suspend the account while we look into it.

5. Fair play

You may not:

• use a bug or a mistake in the game to get an advantage. Report it to us instead: we may reward players who find bugs and tell us;
• use any program to play for you, except the Citavon Bot we provide and anything we allow in the Bot guide;
• try to get into another player's account, or our servers, or read or change data that is not yours;
• overload, attack or disrupt the game or its servers, or try to get round a ban or a limit;
• harass, threaten or abuse other players, or post hateful, sexual or illegal content;
• pretend to be a member of our team.

6. When we may suspend or close an account

If you break these terms, we may warn you, remove what you gained by it, suspend or ban the lord or the account, or close it, depending on how serious it is. If you think we got it wrong, email us and we will look again. You may stop playing at any time; to have your account closed, email us from its address.

7. Your data

• We keep what the game needs to run: your email address, your password (only as a secure hash, never the password itself), your lords and everything in the game, a log of what happens in the game, and the internet addresses you connect from (to keep accounts and the servers safe).
• For a purchase we keep the order, the amount, the PayPal or Payfast order and transaction numbers and what was delivered. PayPal or Payfast handles the payment itself under its own privacy policy.
• We send email through a mail service (Resend) and use it for nothing else. We do not sell your data or show you third-party advertising.
• Other players see your lord's name, your account name and number (as Name#12345) if you share them, your cities on the map and what you write to them.
• To see, correct or delete your data, email us from your account's address.

8. Our game

The game, its code, art, text and names are ours. You may take screenshots and videos of the game and share them. You may not copy, sell or run the game or its parts anywhere else.

9. No guarantees

We work hard to keep Citavon running and fair, but we provide it as it is and as it is available. Servers can go down, the game has a daily maintenance break, and bugs happen. We do not promise that the game will always be available, free of errors, or that it will run forever. If we ever close the game or a server for good, we will stop sales and tell players in the game at least 30 days before, where we can.

10. Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of in-game items, progress or data, and our total liability to you for anything to do with Citavon is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be limited, or our liability for anything the law does not let us exclude.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as the game grows. The date at the top shows when they last changed. For a change that matters, we will tell players in the game before it applies. If you keep playing after a change applies, you accept the new terms.

12. The law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep any protection the law of your own country gives you that cannot be set aside by agreement.
